Melrose softball 4/28/23

The Melrose softball team split their double header at West Central Friday. West Central won the first game 5-3, Melrose won the second game 12-6.
For Melrose, Ellie Grieve pitched all 14 innings in the double header, striking out 8 in game 2.
In the second game, Melrose scored 8 runs in the 5th inning to take the lead. Paige Gruber had 3 hits and knocked in 2 runs. Kaydence Bertram had 3 hits and 2 RBI, Allie Hoppe drove in a run with a double.
The Melrose softball team will play at home Monday against Osakis and here on MIDMNSPORTS.

The Melrose baseball team split their double header with BOLD Tuesday in Melrose. BOLD won the first game 5-1. Melrose won the second game 10-0 in 5 innings.

Sauk Centre softball 4/25/23

The Sauk Centre softball team had a 7-2 lead at Morris going to the bottom of the 7th. Morris then scored 6 runs to win the game 8-7.
For Sauk Centre, Sienna Klaphake was 3 for 3 with a RBI triple. Addie Hoffman had 2 hits with 2 RBI, Lindsay Bailey had a hit.

The Melrose softball team is 2-0 on the season after a non conference win at Paynesville 8-5 Monday afternoon.
For Melrose: Ellie Grieve pitched the win with 6 strike outs, Jazmin Finken knocked in 2 runs with 2 hits, Allie Hoppe had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Kari Rademacher had 2 hits and Hannah Hoppe had a 2 RBI triple.
Melrose goes to West Central on Friday for their next game.

JO volleyball 4/23/23

After 12 hours of volleyball in Becker on Sunday, the Melrose JO volleyball team won the championship in the 17"s Gold Bracket. Melrose defeated Sauk Centre in the title match 2-0, 25-23 and 25-11.
Melrose beat New Richland 2-0 in the semi final, Sauk Centre beat Hermantown 2-0 in the other semi.

In the softball game Friday, ACGC defeated Sauk Centre 5-1 at the Sauk Centre field.
Sauk Centre took a 1-0 lead in the game. Lanna Walter walked to get on. Walter stole second and third. Then Kate McKeown laid down a squeeze bunt to score Walter.

MSHSL

The Minnesota State High School League teams are classified by sport and activity for postseason competition and performances every two years. Competitive section placements are determined by enrollment and geography (as determined by MSHSL Board policy).

The Sauk Centre 16's and 17's ended up as co-champions.
