In the Section 6AA baseball tournament, Pierz scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to beat Melrose 10-9. Melrose had taken a 9-8 lead in the top of the 7th on an inside the park home run by Anthony Berscheit.
Melrose will play agin Thursday at 4:30 at Putz field in St. Cloud.

The Section 6AA baseball playoffs begin Tuesday. There are 16 teams in the tournament, the 8 highest seeded teams will play at home Tuesday. The 8 winners will advance to the quarterfinals in an 8 team double elimination tournament on Wednesday. The losing team Tuesday is done for the season.

#7 Sauk Centre (13-6) will play at home vs #10 Melrose (9-8) at 5:00.

The Sauk Centre softball team had a double header sweep Friday. Sauk Centre won at Benson 10-0 and 10-5.
In the first game, Sauk Centre had Lanna Walter with 2 hits including a home run and 4 RBI, plus Walter stole home in the game. Brenna Bick had 2 hits, Maddie Nelson threw the shut out with 12 strike outs.
In the second game, Hailey Hokanson pitched the win, Lanna Walter 2 hits 2 RBI, Kate McKeown 2 hits and 2 RBI and Emily Peters 2 hits.
