Defenders girls 1/25/25

The Defenders girls wrestling team competed at the State Dual Championship Saturday.
The Defenders girls won the Consolation Championship.
In the first round of 16 teams, Pine City beat the Defenders 46-30, which put the Defenders in the consolation bracket.
The Defenders beat Hopkins 54-21 and Hutchinson 54-21.
The Defenders girls beat Brainerd 42-36 to win the Consolation Championship.
The Defenders had Monika Frericks, Kalli Schirmers and Krista Klasen go 4-0 in the four matches.

A good effort results in a win for the Sauk Centre boys basketball Friday night at home. Sauk Centre beat BOLD 56-43. Sauk Centre led at the half 33-18.
Sauk Centre had Chad Herickoff, Jacob Drevlow and Noah Borgerding with 12 each, Jeric Schloegl 9.

The Melrose boys basketball team had a 10 point lead at halftime but West Central came back to win 62-51. Melrose led 29-19 at the half.
For Melrose, Brady Goihl 15, Brandon Revering 14, Sam Wehlage and Riley Elfering with 7 each.

The Sauk Centre boys basketball team played a good game Tuesday at home and beat Minnewaska 63-46. Sauk Centre led at halftime 31-21.
Four players in double figures, Chad Herickhoff 20 points and 21 rebounds, Jacob Drevlow 14, Noah Borgerding and Jeric Schloegl 11 each.

The Melrose boys basketball team played at home against Montevideo. It was Montevideo winning the game 52-40. Montevideo led at the half 32-22.
