State track and field 6/8/23

Another State Championship for Brandon Kampsen. This time in the 800 with 153.56. Broke his own school record.
Sauk Centre's Brandon Kampsen is the State Champion in the 1600. Kampsen had a first place time of 4:18.50. New school record time.

Sauk Centre's Brandon Kampsen took first place in his heat in the 800 at the State meet 1:57.15. Kampsen will run in the finals Friday.
The Sauk Centre boys 4x400 relay team placed 9th in their heat 3:36.02 at the State meet.

Competing at the State meet will be Brandon Kampsen in the 800 and 1600, Corey McCoy in the discus and the 4x400 relay team of Reese Blodin, Derick Sorenson, Nathan Lahr and Brandon Kampsen.

Championship game: Foley over Eden Valley Watkins 6-4. Foley will advance to the State tournament.

There's something special happening next Wednesday at the Freeport baseball field. Fox 9 television begins their "Town Ball Tour". The first stop will be in Freeport. The Freeport Black Sox will play Avon at 6:30. The game will be broadcast on MIDMNSPORTS.

Sauk Centre track and field 5/31/23

The Sauk Centre track and field team competed at the Section 5A meet at St. John's Wednesday. The Sauk Centre boys team took first place. In the 800, Brandon Kampsen broke the school record and the Section meet record. Advancing to the State meet next week will be Kampsen in the 800 and 1600, Corey McCoy in the discus and the 4x400 relay team of Reese Blodin, Derick Sorenson, Nathan Lahr and Brandon Kampsen. State True Team 5/20/23

The Sauk Centre boys track and field team placed 2nd at the Class A State True Team meet Saturday in Stillwater.
Sauk Centre had Brandon Kampsen take 1st place in the 1600 and 800 meter run. The 4x400 relay team took first place. State True Team results.

The Section 6AA softball playoffs begin Monday, the higher seeded team will play at home. The first round of the playoffs is a single elimination. The losing team Monday will end their season. Sauk Centre baseball 5/19/23

A big win for Sauk Centre between two teams in Section 6AA. Sauk Centre won at Osakis 10-9.
Osakis had bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th, a ground ball was hit in the hole on the right side, Sauk Centre second baseman Neil Stadsvold got to the grounder and got the out to win the game.
Sauk Centre trailed 9-6 going to the 7th. Catcher Evan Zales had a big two out, 2 run hit. Sauk Centre scored 4 in the inning.
Matthew Warring went 4/4, Hunter Danielson had 2 hits. Zac Bick threw the last two innings for the win.
Sauk Centre has a double header at home Monday vs West Central starting at 2:00.

The Sauk Centre baseball team picked up a win Friday night at the Max bat, wood bat invite. Sauk Centre shut out BBE 4-0. Matthew Warring with the 7 inning win. Sauk Centre had a 3-0 lead when the BBE pitcher walked in three straight runs. Sauk Centre added a run in the 7th, Hunter Broich got on with a hit, then Eli Fletcher hit a ball of the fence for a RBI double. Fletcher also singled earlier in the game.

Sauk Centre football

Sauk Centre will have a new football coach next season. Curtis Krump will take over the head coach position, taking over from coach Charlie Warring, who is stepping aside. Coach Krump has been the defensive coach the past several seasons.

For Melrose, Max Wehlage led off the thurd inning with a double, the run came in on a sac fly from Connor Anderson. Isaac Rosenberger shut out Sauk Centre for the second time this season.
