For the first time ever, the Melrose girls swimming and diving team is the champion of Section 6A. The Melrose team took the championship Saturday in Alexandria. These swimmers also advance to the State meet for Melrose: Hallie Drossel in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke (breaststroke time was a Section record) 200 medley relay of Brooke Ruoff, Hallie Drossel, Paige Gruber, Kaydence Bertram 200 Free Relay of Drossel, Ruoff, Gruber, and Bertram Hallie Drossel was honored as the Section 6A swimmer of the year and Melrose coach Nathan Meyer as Section coach of the year. The 2022 Sauk Centre football team has become the third Sauk Centre football team to advance to the State tournament. The teams from 1972 and 1983 were the others. Sauk Centre will play Eden Valley Watkins in the quarter finals in the State Class AA tournament. The game will be played at Monticello high school at 7:00 Thursday.
