Melrose softball 5/5/25

The Melrose girls softball team stays unbeaten on the year with a win at BOLD 4-3.
Melrose scored first in the 3rd inning. Jaelyn Mayers singled to get on, and eventually scored on an error.
Two more runs in the 4th. Allie Hoppe walked to get on. Celia Schoenberg had a base hit to left to score Hoppe. Melrose scored another run on an error, Melrose leading 3-0. The 4th run also came in on an error.
Ellie Grieve started and pitched into the 6th inning with 9 K. Kaitlyn Klasen pitched well the rest of the way.

A win for the Sauk Centre baseball team Friday. Sauk won at Benson 5-2.
Sauk Centre had good pitching, Leyton Fuchs started and went the first 3 innings. Then Will Hoffman fiinished up, throwing 4 innings while striking out 8.
Evan Zales knocked in a run to give Sauk Centre the lead at 3-2 in the 3rd. Leyton Fuchs drove in 2 more runs with a hit in the 6th.

Softball 5/1/25

A huge win for the Melrose softball team in the West Central Conference. Melrose won at Morris 5-2. That puts Melrose in first place in the conference.
Melrose scored first in the 2nd inning on a home run hit by Allie Hoppe.
Melrose with 3 runs in the 3rd. 2 Morris errors put 2 on, then Shantel Gruber hit a triple to make it 3-1. Gruber came in to score on a ground out by Ellie Grieve.
The final run came in the 7th. Gabi Schoenberg had a base hit, then another RBI hit from Gruber.
Ellie Grieve pitched the win, only giving up 2 hits. 5 K.

The BOLD softball team swept the double header at Sauk Centre. BOLD won 7-4 and 6-0.
Sauk Centre had two hits each for Gabi Marthaler, Peyton Borgman and Jaden Lahr. Borgman had 2 RBI. Anna Feltman had 2 hits in the other game.

Sauk Centre's run came in the 2nd. Sienna Klaphake walked to start the inning. Nadia Stadsvold hit a line drive double down the left field line to score the run. Stadsvold had another hit. Paige Determan and Megan Broich had hits.

Melrose pitcher Ellie Grieve struck out 12. Jaelyn Mayers brought home the first run with a double. Shantel Gruber doubled in 2, Kaitlyn Klasen knocked in a run, after Allie Hoppe tripled, Ellie Grieve brought in the run with a hit.
Sauk Centre had Gabi Marthaler and Sienna Klaphake with 2 hits each.

Baseball 4/17/25

In one of the craziest baseball games ever, the Melrose baseball team had a 3 run walk off home run to beat Minnewaska 14-13 in the second game of a double header. Minnewaska won the first game 5-4.
It was Melrose catcher Daniel Spanier that hit the game winning home run.
Melrose trailed 5-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. Melrose scored 7 times in the inning and led 7-5 and needed 3 outs for the win.
Minnewaska scored 8 runs in the top of the 7th to lead 13-7.
In the last at bat for Melrose, they scored 7 runs to win 14-13, capped off by Spanier's 3 run homer.

The Sauk Centre baseball team won 5-3 at Benson.
Sauk Centre had Kayden Thieschafer strike out 10 in 6 innings. RBI hits for Evan Zales, Leyton Fuchs and Eli Warring.

The Melrose softball team stays unbeaten on the season with an extra inning win at home Thursday. Melrose scored in the bottom of the 8th to beat BOLD 3-2. Melrose had Celia Schoenberg with the game winning hit.

The Sauk Centre softball team had a 8-3 lead after 4 innings, but Foley came back to win the game 22-8.
Sauk Centre had Sienna Klaphake hit a 3 run home run. Klaphake also had a double.

It was a good baseball game Tuesday, as Melrose won 1-0 over Sauk Centre.
The only run came in the 5th inning. Melrose had Zach Rieland come through with an infield hit, scoring Riley Elfering.
Melrose starter Carson Theiler struck out 8. Sauk Centre had Hunter Dickinson strike out 9 in 5 innings.
Along with the game winning RBI, Zach Rieland hit a double.
