Melrose BB

An easier win for the Melrose boys basketball team Thursday night at home, Melrose beat Montevideo 67-35, Melrose led at half 41-18.
The Melrose boys (3-0) will play at NLS Friday night.
Preston Keaveny topped the scoring with 14 points, Reegan Nelson 13, Nicolas Olberding 11.

PC boys hockey

It’s the first win of the season for the Prairie Centre boys hockey team, PC beat Mora 7-4 in a game played in Long Prairie Thursday night.
Prairie Centre grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Isaac Cebulla and Jake Zollman. Mora scored twice in the second to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods. Seth Deters scored in the third to give PC the lead. Mora came back with two more goals to take over the lead at 4-3, that’s when Prairie Centre scored 4 straight goals.
Ian Gould scored to tie the game, Brady Miller put one in the give PC the lead, Noah MacDonald and Preston Sorenson put the game away with goals late in the third period.
Isaiah Defoe was in goal for the win, facing 29 shots, PC had 35 shots on goal.

Two top ten rated girls basketball teams will meet Thursday night at the Sauk Centre gym. Sauk Centre will play New London Spicer. The game will be broadcast on MIDMNSPORTS and 105.5 FM radio.

The Sauk Centre girls basketball team improved to (5-0) on the season with a win over Melrose 77-32 at the Sauk Centre gym Tuesday night. Melrose (2-3).

Watertown Mayer beat NLS 57-55 Tuesday night.
Melrose plays at home Friday against Montevideo.
Sauk Centre had 11 players score Tuesday, Maesyn Thiesen had 16, Tori Peschel 14 and Kelsey Peschel 12.
Melrose had Ashley Rademacher and Cassie Klaphake with 8 apiece and Mia Meyer 7.

A big scoring night for the Prairie Centre girls hockey team Tuesday night, Prairie Centre beat Morris/Benson 12-1 at the Sauk Centre Civic Arena.

In boys hockey Tuesday night, Little Falls defeated Prairie Centre 9-2 in Little Falls. The Prairie Centre boys play Mora Thursday in Long Prairie.

The Sauk Centre boys basketball team won a tight one at the Holdingford gym Tuesday night. Sauk Centre won by 2, 50-48. Sauk Centre had a two point lead at half time 25-23.
The Sauk Centre boys go to (3-1) on the season and will play at ACGC on Thursday.
Sophomore guard Casey Schirmers led the scoring with 16 points, Steven Namvar and Jake Jennissen had 9 each, Alex Kowski 7, Cade Neubert 6 and Trevor Weir 3.

Fusion

It was a hard fought dual meet for the Melrose/Sauk Centre Fusion as they face Alexandria at the Sauk Centre pool. Alexandria won the meet 95-91. First place swims went to Dylan Fleischhacker in the 200 IM, and Spencer Van Beck in the 500 Free. The MSC divers Sam Heller, Leo Braun and Mark Budde finished 1-2-3 to help tie the meet and keep the meet close throughout. Despite only three first places, MSC used its depth to keep the meet close.
