Tuesday sports

It’s the volleyball rematch Tuesday night between Sauk Centre and Melrose, this time it’s at the Sauk Centre gym, Melrose plays at Sauk Centre. It will be here on MIDMNSPORTS and 105.5 FM radio.

This is the final match in the WCC, Morris (12-1)  plays at home vs Minnewaska.
The volleyball playoffs begin a week from this coming Thursday on Oct. 26.
Sauk Centre and Melrose play in Section 6AA West sub section.

The Melrose girls swimming and diving team has a meet at Brainerd at 6:00 Tuesday night.

Melrose swim/dive

The Melrose Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team received an invitation to the State True Team meet as a wild card team.  The meet will take place on Thursday, October 19 at the U of M Aquatic Center.  This is the 10th consecutive True Team State appearance for Melrose Swimming and Diving.

The girls swimming and diving Section 6A True Team meet was held in Morris on Saturday. Sartell took first place, Melrose second and Sauk Centre third out of the 11 teams that competed.

Sauk Centre:
Kali Sayovitz won the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, setting a meet record in the 100 yard butterfly. 200 yard relay team of Riley Engle, Jenna Rachey, Kayla Sayovitz, and Kali Sayovitz also were True Team Section Champions.
Other top 8 finishers.
200 freestyle: Jenna Kill 8th
200 IM: Kayla Sayovitz fifth
50 Free: Riley Engle seventh
500 Free: Jenna Kill third, Miah Schirmers. fifth, Kali Uphus sixth.

Sauk Centre football

Sauk Centre scored on the second play they ran in the game and went on to beat Morris 39-8 in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre is (5-2) on the season and will play Wednesday at ACGC.

Melrose football

Melrose beat Holdingford 28-19 Friday night, Melrose improves to (5-2) on the season and will play at Eden Valley Watkins on Wednesday next week and here on MIDMNSPORTS.
Melrose led at halftime 14-13 and 21-13 after three quarters.

Friday football

Coming off an impressive win last Friday, the Sauk Centre football team plays at home against Morris, kick off at 7:00 here on MIDMNSPORTS and 105.5 FM radio.
Sauk Centre (4-2)   Morris (3-3).
Section 5AA for Sauk Centre.

The Melrose football team also had a good win last week. Melrose plays at home again Friday night against Holdingford. Melrose (4-2)   Holdingford (3-3).
Section 6AAA for Melrose.

Sauk Centre volleyball

The match went the distance, Sauk Centre battled back all night long but in the end, Morris won 3-2 over Sauk Centre. Morris won the first two sets, 25-23, 25-21. Sauk Centre had to win the next two sets which they did, 25-18, 25-22. Morris won the final fifth set 15-12.
Sauk Centre (11-2) in the West Central Conference, Morris is the first place team at (12-1).
Sauk Centre plays at home Tuesday against Melrose.

Melrose volleyball

A close first set but then the Melrose volleyball team controlled the rest of the night at Minnewaska, Melrose won 3-0, 26-24, 25-9, 25-5.
Melrose plays at Sauk Centre next Tuesday.
Melrose had 9 kills each for Courtney Gerads, Mia Meyer and Mashaye Tschida.
Makiya Luetmer with 29 set assists.
