Girls tennis

The fall sports season begins Friday with some girls tennis on the schedule. The Melrose tennis team will host a triangular at the Melrose courts starting at 8:00 am. Teams from Sartell and St. Cloud Apollo will be there.

The Sauk Centre girls tennis team will be playing at Foley at 9:00 am Friday.

Legion baseball

In the District 6 American Legion baseball tournament Saturday, Albany beat Sauk Centre for the second time in the tournament, this time 4-3 in Elrosa. The Albany win eliminated Sauk Centre.
The Pierz Legion team won the tournament by beating Albany 7-3 in the championship game. Pierz will play in the Division 2 State tournament at New London Spicer next week.

Two wins on Friday for the Sauk Centre American Legion baseball team to stay alive in the District 6 tournament. Sauk Centre beat Paynesville 6-5 in Elrosa.
Sauk Centre will play Albany at noon Saturday in Elrosa and on MIDMNSPORTS.
In the winners bracket game, Pierz beat Albany 12-2 in 5 innings.

Legion baseball

The Sauk Centre American Legion baseball team stayed alive in the District 6 tournament with a win over Holdingford. Sauk Centre won 13-3 in 5 innings and will now play Paynesville at 2:30 Friday in Elrosa. Paynesville beat Wadena 2-0.

Sauk Centre over Park Rapids 4-3
Albany beat Paynesville 11-10 in 9 innings
Pierz over BBE 8-5
Wadena beat Holdingford 1-0 in 12 innings
Winners bracket:
Albany over Sauk Centre 11-4
Pierz over Wadena 5-4
Loser bracket:
Paynesville over Park Rapids 13-5  Park Rapids eliminated
Holdingford beat BBE 9-8 in 9 innings   BBE eliminated
Friday schedule:
