Melrose boys basketball

The Melrose boys basketball team had a strong second half, taking a one point half time to a 16 point win, Melrose beat Morris 75-59 Monday night at the Melrose gym.
The Melrose boys are (18-2) on the season and the first place team in the West Central Conference at (10-0). Melrose has a big game Friday night at home against Albany and here on MIDMNSPORTS.
Melrose junior Preston Keaveny had an outstanding night with 30 points on 11/13 shooting and 8/8 free throws, Reegan Nelson had 16 with 7 rebounds, Damon Van Beck 11. As a team, Melrose went 18 for 18 at the free throw line.

The Minnewaska boys basketball team had a 4 point half time lead and kept that lead through the second half to beat Sauk Centre 60-55 at the Minnewaska gym Monday night.
Sauk Centre is (10-9) overall and will play their next game Saturday in Alexandria against Eden Valley Watkins at about 3:15.
Sauk Centre had Cade Neubert with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Casey Schirmers 12, Jake Jennissen and Alex Kowski with 8 each, Steven Namvar 6.

PC girls hockey

The Prairie Centre girls hockey team will start their Section 6A playoffs on Thursday at Willmar. The Prairie Centre girls were seeded #5 and Willmar #4.
Game time on Thursday will be 7:00, the PC girls game will be only on 105.5 FM radio.

A 30 point half time lead that turned into a 30 point win for the Sauk Centre girls basketball team Monday night. Sauk Centre won at home over Minnewaska 71-31.
The Sauk Centre girls go to (20-) overall and (11-0) in the West Central Conference.
The Sauk Centre girls play at Benson Friday night and have a big game Saturday vs Eden Valley Watkins in Alexandria at 1:45.
Sauk Centre had Maesyn Thiesen with 13 points, Kelsey Peschel, Kenzie Schmiesing and Julia Dammann with 10 a piece.

Fusion swimming and diving

A nice win for the Fusion 109-69 over Rocori/Apollo.  MSC went 1-2 on all three relays which led to the Fusion win.  Melrose/Sauk Centre wraps up dual meets with a (6-3) record and will compete at Western Regional Championships on Thursday at Montevideo.

A big win over a top ten rated team Monday night for the Melrose gymnastics team, Melrose beat Perham 145-550 – 144.125.
