Sauk Centre volleyball

The Sauk Centre volleyball team did they best they could against a talented Rocori team in the Section 6AA West sub section. Rocori won the match 3-1. Rocori won the first set 25-15. In the second set, Sauk Centre needed two more points to close it out with a win but Rocori came back and won in extra points 28-26. Sauk Centre battled back and took set #3 25-16. Rocori won the 4th set 25-18.
Rocori will play St. Cloud Cathedral Thursday night at 6:00 at the Sauk Rapids gym. St. Cloud Cathedral beat Albany 3-1, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 36-34.

Sauk Centre volleyball

It’s a big night Tuesday night for the Sauk Centre volleyball team as they play in the semi final of the Section 6AA West sub section tournament. Sauk Centre will play at Rocori at 7:00. The match will be on MIDMNSPORTS and 105.5 FM radio.
Sauk Centre (22-8)   Rocori (24-4)
The winner will play Thursday night at 6:00 at Sauk Rapids for the West sub section championship. The Section 6AA championship will be played Saturday night at 6:00 at SCSU.

The other semi final match has Albany playing at St. Cloud Cathedral.

Melrose football

The Melrose football season came to an end Saturday night in the Section 6AAA football playoffs. Pierz beat Melrose 41-7 at Pierz in the semi final of the Section.
The Melrose touchdown came on a 68 yard run by Brady Helmin.
Pierz will play New London Spicer Friday night at 8:00 at St. Cloud State for the Section championship. NLS beat Albany 28-20 Saturday night in Albany.

Section 5AA   Paynesville over Eden Valley Watkins 32-22
Holdingford beat Minnewaska 21-18, Holdingford scored with :10 left to win.
Maple Lake beat Howard Lake 48-0

Melrose football

The playoff football season continues for the Melrose football team as they play at Pierz Saturday night at 7:00 in the semi finals of the Section 6AAA playoffs.
The Melrose football game will be on MIDMNSPORTS and 105.5 FM radio.
Melrose (6-3)   Pierz (8-0)
The other semi final game has NLS (6-3)  at Albany (6-3)
The two winners will meet next Friday for the Section 6AA championship.
The Albany and NLS game will be on 1150 AM radio and listen on line  KASM radio.

Eden Valley Watkins (6-3)  at Paynesville (6-2)
Holdingford (5-4)  at Minnewaska (7-2)

WCC swim-dive

The girls swimming and diving teams in the West Central Conference competed in the conference meet Friday at the U of M Morris.
The team results had 1. Sauk Centre 607  2. Melrose 592  3. Minnewaska/Morris 392  4. Holdingford 318.
Sauk Centre’s Kali Sayovitz set conference records in the 200 Free and 100 Butterfly.
Melrose had Mikayla Von Wahlde set conference records in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke.

Sauk Centre volleyball

Solid play all night for the Sauk Centre volleyball team in their first match in the Section 6AA volleyball tournament. Sauk Centre swept at Holdingford 3-0, 25-20, 25-15, 25-18.
Sauk Centre will play at Rocori Tuesday night at 7:00 and here on MIDMNSPORTS. Rocori beat Little Falls 3-0, 25-17, 25-17, 25-13.

Melrose volleyball

An excellent year came to an end for the Melrose volleyball team Thursday night in the first round of the Section 6AA playoffs. Albany came back to win over Melrose 3-2 at the Albany gym.
Albany won the first set 25-20, Melrose tied the match at 1-1 win a second set win 25-13, Melrose took a 2-1 lead in the match by winning the third set 25-20, but Albany took the fourth 25-17, then Albany took the fifth 15-5.
Melrose ended up with an outstanding (24-6) overall record.
Albany will play at St. Cloud Cathedral next Tuesday, Cathedral beat Pierz 3-0.

Section 6A Cross Country

The Section 6A cross country was held Thursday at the Long Prairie golf course, the top runners will advance to the State meet.
Sauk Centre’s Kate O’Brien finished in the top ten and will be advancing to the State meet, O’Brien finished 5th.

Thursday sports

The volleyball playoffs begin Thursday night with matches in Section 6AA West sub section. The winners Thursday will advance to next Tuesday.
The Sauk Centre volleyball team will play at Holdingford at 7:00, there will be no B squad match.
MIDMNSPORTS will broadcast the Sauk Centre match and it will also be on 105.5 FM radio.

Sauk Centre football

The Sauk Centre football season came to an end Tuesday night in the quarter final round of the Section 5AA playoffs. Eden Valley Watkins won 49-22.
Eden Valley Watkins plays at Paynesville Saturday at 2:00 in the Section semi final.
Sauk Centre’s touchdowns came on a 43 yeard halfback pass from Dylan Haskamp to Royal Weber, Hunter Fletcher a 9 yard run and a 7 yard run by Dylan Haskamp.
