Sauk Centre football

After trailing 22-0 at halftime, the Sauk Centre football team battled back and had a shot at the end but Royalton won the game 22-15 in Sauk Centre Friday night.
Sauk Centre goes to Benson next Friday and here on MIDMNSPORTS.
The come back started late in the third quarter when Royal Weber intercepted a pass and returned it for a Sauk Centre touchdown.
Hunter Fletcher capped off a good drive with a 2 yard run with 4:40 left in the 4th quarter. Sauk Centre trailed by just 7 points 22-15.
The Sauk Centre defense came up with a big stop on a 4th down run by Royalton to get the ball back with 2:12 left.
Sauk Centre just couldn’t connect on the remaining possession and was held out of the end zone to make the final score 22-15.

Melrose football

A win to open up the season for the Melrose football team, Melrose won at Montevideo 27-18. Melrose plays at Paynesville next Friday.
Traeton Keaveny gave Melrose an early lead with a 36 yard touchdown run. Quarterback Reegan Nelson had two TD runs, a 3 yard run and a 9 yard run. Nelson threw a 26 yard touchdown pass to Keaveny for the final score.

Sauk Centre tennis

A clean sweep for the Sauk Centre girls tennis team Friday, Sauk Centre beat BBE 7-0, each player won in straight sets.
Winning for Sauk Centre in the singles competition, Melissa Zimmerman, Maria Jennissen, Emily Primus and Abby Olson. In the doubles, Hanna Mockros and Erica Middendorf at #1, Gabby Tschida and Savanna Marthaler at #2 and the #3 doubles team of Natalie Berndt and Alexis Tate.
