Friday sports

The softball teams take to field Friday to begin their playoffs, the Sauk Centre softball team will play at Pierz at 4:00. MIDMNSPORTS will broadcast the Sauk Centre game with AUDIO ONLY, NO VIDEO. The game will also be on 105.5 FM radio.

The Melrose softball team will play at home Friday at 4:30 against Holdingford.

Softball South Sub section 6AA seeding:
1. St. Cloud Cathedral  2. Albany  3. Melrose  4. Pierz  5. Sauk Centre  6. Holdingford  7. Milaca  8. Foley
The winning team Friday plays again Tuesday at 5:00, the losing team Friday is done for the season.
Section 6AA softball brackets.
St. Cloud Cathedral (16-3) home vs Foley (4-13).  Albany (14-3) home vs Milaca (4-14).

The Melrose (12-6) baseball team plays at home Friday against St. Cloud Cathedral (10-7) at 5:00.

Sauk Centre (16-2) baseball will play Albany (5-12) in Avon at 4:00.

Melrose baseball

A shut out win for the Melrose baseball team, Melrose won at Morris 2-0 Thursday afternoon.
Melrose scored their two runs in the first inning, Jordan Klaphake hit a home run, Dillon Haider had two hits, Brady Birch pitched the 7 inning win, giving up 3 hits and 5 strike outs.
Melrose plays St. Cloud Cathedral at home Friday.

Sauk Centre baseball

A close game was won by the Sauk Centre baseball team, Sauk Centre beat Minnewaska 2-1 Thursday at the Sauk Centre baseball field.
Sauk Centre (16-2) overall will play Albany in Avon Friday at 4:00.
Sauk Centre had just two hits in the game, both by catcher Kyle Froseth. Luke Van Beck started the game, going 4.1, Dylan Haskamp went the rest of the way.
