Sauk Centre baseball

A 9-1 win for the Sauk Centre baseball team at Benson Tuesday. Sauk Centre stays in first place in the West Central Conference at (11-1) and (15-2) overall. Sauk Centre plays at home Thursday against Minnewaska and here on MIDMNSPORTS, earlier start time at 3:30.
Sophomore left hander Jake Zollman gave Sauk Centre 7 strong innings, allowing just 4 hits. Simon Weller and Dylan Haskamp had two run base hits.

Melrose baseball

BOLD scored 9 runs in the second inning and went on to beat Melrose 11-10 Tuesday afternoon at BOLD.
Melrose (11-6) will play at Morris Thursday and then at home Friday against St. Cloud Cathedral.

Softball

A three run first inning for the Sauk Centre softball team kept them in the lead for the entire game as Sauk Centre won at Melrose 11-3 to close out the regular season. Now the softball playoffs begin on Friday, the Section 6AA softball coaches will have their seeding meeting Wednesday night. The top four seeded teams will get a home game, the four winners will play again, the four losing teams will be done with their season.

Sauk Centre had Kailyn Seidel with a two run double in the first, Shelby Otte drove in a run to make it 3-0. Melrose scored a run in their first at bat, Kayla Austing doubled and came home on an infield hit from Abby Hinnenkamp.
Sauk Centre made it 4-1 on a RBI hit by Jill Klaphake. Sauk Centre scored twice in the 4th, Mikayla Olson with a run batted in. The score went to 10-1 with a 4 run 5th. Klaphake knocked in two more runs with a double, and Seidel with another RBI hit.
Melrose scored two runs in the 5th, helped out by some Sauk Centre errors, then Sauk Centre scored the last run in the 6th on a base hit from Gabby Olson.
Cassie Bohnsack pitched 7 innings for the Sauk Centre win, Kenzie Meyer threw 7 innings for Melrose.
