Sauk Centre baseball

All the runs came in one inning for the Sauk Centre baseball team, Sauk Centre scored 7 times in the fifth inning and beat Holdingford 7-0 at the Sauk Centre baseball field Thursday afternoon. Sauk Centre goes to (2-0) on the season and will play at Osakis Friday.
Sauk Centre pitcher Simon Weller had a strong outing, pitching 6 innings of no hit baseball. Weller struck out 5 and walked 6. Ryan Schirmers threw the last inning.

Melrose softball

Another solid effort for the Melrose softball team as they won their second straight game, this time a West Central Conference win at home over Benson 10-7.
The Melrose softball team (2-0) plays a non conference game Friday at Milaca.

Melrose baseball

The winning run was scored in the bottom of the 8th inning for the Melrose baseball team as Melrose beat Browerville 1-0 in extra innings at the Melrose field Thursday. That was the first game for Melrose, they play again Friday against Albany at 5:00 and here on MIDMNSPORTS, the Melrose baseball game will be played in Farming.
Brady Birch came through with the game winning hit for Melrose, scoring Zack Van Beck in the bottom of the 8th.
Brennen Hoppe went 7 innings, 6 strike outs.

Sauk Centre softball

The Sauk Centre softball team got their West Central Conference season going in the right direction with a win at home over ACGC 11-8 at the Sauk Centre field Thursday afternoon. Sauk Centre is (2-0) on the season and will play at Albany Friday.
Sauk Centre had Mikayla Olson drive in three runs on 2 hits, Kailyn Seidel had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Shelby Otte had 2 hits. Kallie Kampsen pitched the win, striking out 9.
