BBB playoffs

The boys basketball playoffs continue Saturday at St. John’s in the West sub section in Section 6AA. Melrose (27-0) will play Osakis (21-6) at 4:30.
Sauk Centre (21-6) plays Holdingford (23-4) at 6:00.
Both games will be broadcast on MIDMNSPORTS with AUDIO ONLY. The game will also be on 105.5 FM radio.

Sauk Centre GBB

How do you want to describe the game? A nail biter, pressure packed, on the edge of your seat, nerve racking, emotionally draining… and that was for the fans! Just think what the players are going through. In the end, the Sauk Centre girls basketball team won the game over Rush City 52-50 and will be advancing to the State Class AA tournament on Wednesday.
Sauk Centre had a 10 point lead at half time 28-18, their biggest lead was by 11 at 35-24 but Rush City started to make some shots and the game was tied at 45-45 with 3:36 left. Maesyn Thiesen scored to put Sauk Centre up by two. It was tied again at 47-47 when Sauk Centre’s Tori Peschel made two free throws with :41. Jill Klaphake made two more free throws to put Sauk Centre in the lead by 4 at 51-47. After Maesyn Thiesen made one free throw to give Sauk Centre a two point lead, Rush City took the final shot just before the buzzer, the shot didn’t go in and Sauk Centre had the win.
Maesyn Thiesen led the scoring with 15 points, Kelsey Peschel 13, Jill Klaphake 12, Alyssa Kohorst with 10 rebounds. Tori Peschel with 8.
